We are currently recruiting Consultants across all medical, Emergency, Psych and surgical specialties for locum, non‑contract roles within HSE hospitals nationwide. These roles offer flexible short‑, medium‑, and long‑term locum cover, including outpatient, inpatient, on‑call, and sessional commitments, depending on service needs.

As a Tier 1 HSE agency, we work directly with hospitals and hospital groups across Ireland, providing early access to live and upcoming consultant locum requirements.

Role Overview

The Consultant will provide senior clinical leadership and specialist expertise within their discipline, delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred care in line with HSE policies and national clinical guidelines. The role involves independent clinical practice, supervision of junior medical staff, and participation in multidisciplinary team decision‑making.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver consultant‑level care within the relevant specialty
• Lead and manage the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients
• Provide clinical leadership within inpatient, outpatient, and/or on‑call settings
• Supervise, support, and provide guidance to NCHDs (Registrars and SHOs)
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and care planning
• Ensure compliance with clinical governance, patient safety, and quality standards
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
• Participate in handovers and service planning as required
• Escalate and manage complex clinical cases appropriately

Essential Requirements

• IMC Specialist Registration in the relevant specialty
• Eligibility to work as a Consultant in Ireland
• Demonstrated experience working at Consultant level
• Strong leadership, communication, and decision‑making skills
• Ability to adapt quickly to new clinical environments
• Previous experience working within HSE or NHS systems
• Availability for urgent, short‑notice, or on‑call cover
• Flexibility regarding location or shift patterns
