Consultant Physician In Infectious Diseases and Sexual Health

Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and forward-thinking Consultant Physician in Infectious Diseases and Sexual Health to join a progressive multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality specialist care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients with infectious diseases in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Deliver specialist Sexual Health and Genitourinary Medicine (GUM) services, including STI diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and follow-up.
• Lead the management of complex infections, antimicrobial stewardship initiatives, and infection prevention strategies.
• Collaborate closely with microbiology, public health, pharmacy, and other medical specialities.
• Participate in the General Internal Medicine on-call rota, where applicable.
• Support HIV care services and the management of blood-borne viral infections.
• Contribute to service development, quality improvement projects, and clinical governance activities.
• Provide teaching, training, and supervision to junior doctors, medical students, and multidisciplinary team members.

Requirements

• Specialist registration (or eligibility for specialist registration) in Infectious Diseases.
• Experience in Sexual Health/Genitourinary Medicine and the management of complex infectious diseases.
• Strong interest in antimicrobial stewardship, infection prevention, and multidisciplinary working.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to education, research, and continuous service improvement.

What We Offer

• The current Consultant salary scale ranges from €238,221 to €286,151 for a 37-hour week, with any additional work paid on top of that. There is also €12,000 in CPD funding, €8,000 in innovation funding, generous annual leave, and a public pension scheme.
