We are seeking an experienced and motivated Temporary Consultant Haematologist (Clinical & Laboratory) to join a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality haematology services across both clinical and laboratory settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients with a wide range of benign and malignant haematological disorders.
- Deliver comprehensive inpatient, outpatient, and day-case haematology services.
- Contribute to the interpretation and reporting of haematology laboratory investigations and support laboratory governance activities.
- Work collaboratively with oncology, pathology, transfusion medicine, surgery, emergency medicine, and other specialties to ensure integrated patient care.
- Participate in the management of haematological emergencies and complex clinical cases.
- Support blood transfusion services and promote best practices in transfusion medicine.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Provide teaching, training, and supervision to junior doctors, laboratory staff, medical students, and multidisciplinary team members.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of clinical and laboratory haematology services.
Requirements
- Specialist registration (or eligibility for specialist registration) in Haematology.
- Experience in both Clinical and Laboratory Haematology.
- Strong diagnostic, clinical, and laboratory interpretation skills.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and multidisciplinary teamwork abilities.
- Commitment to high-quality patient care, education, and continuous service improvement.

- The current Consultant salary scale ranges from €238,221 to €286,151 for a 37-hour week, with any additional work paid separately.
