Job description

Our client in Roscommon is seeking a dedicated and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to provide specialist psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and clinical leadership within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality, patient-centred care to children, adolescents, and their families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments and treatment plans for young people up to 18 years of age.
  • Lead and support multidisciplinary team meetings and clinical decision-making.
  • Manage complex mental health presentations, including risk assessment and crisis intervention.
  • Collaborate with community agencies, primary care services, schools, and hospitals to ensure integrated care pathways.
  • Supervise and support medical, nursing, and allied health professionals.
  • Participate in service development, clinical governance, and quality improvement initiatives.

Essential Requirements

  • Specialist registration in Psychiatry with the Irish Medical Council (or eligibility for registration).
  • Higher specialist training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry or equivalent recognised qualification.
  • Demonstrated experience working within CAMHS settings.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.
