Are you a Consultant Radiologist specialising in Breast Imaging looking for a Breast Radiology Consultant job in Ireland?

MatchMedics is currently recruiting a Consultant Breast Radiologist for the BreastCheck Western Unit based in Galway University Hospital, part of Ireland’s National Breast Screening Programme.

The BreastCheck Western Unit is part of Ireland’s National Breast Screening Programme and serves a screening population of 160,000+ women across the West and Northwest.

Galway University Hospital is the major tertiary referral centre for the region, comparable to a multi-county US/UK breast screening hub, with excellent MDT structures and advanced imaging technology.

What’s on offer

€235,862 – €283,381 Consultant Salary (2026 HSE scale)
€11,125 On-call Allowance
Up to €20,000 annual learning & development fund
Tomosynthesis, ultrasound, stereotactic biopsy systems
37-hour workweek
30 days annual leave + 10 public holidays
A national programme with strong QA, research and governance frameworks

What we’re looking for

✅ Fellowship or Specialist training in Breast Radiology (minimum 12 months)
➡️ Diagnostic + interventional breast imaging experience (biopsy/stereotactic preferred)
✅ Experience in high-volume screening and symptomatic breast clinics
✅ Interest in audit, quality improvement or academic collaboration
