Job description

We are looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist in Child & Adolescent in Intellectual Disabilities to work in Sligo Leitrim Mental Health Services.

Purpose of the Role

To lead the development and delivery of a new Consultant-led multidisciplinary CAMHS-ID (Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services – Intellectual Disability) service for children and adolescents with intellectual disabilities, in line with national mental health policies and the CAMHS-ID National Model of Service.

Salary between €231,215 to €277,736 per year

30 days of annual leave

10 days of public holidays

Continuous Medical Education Leave

Up to €12,000 for medical education

Up to €8,000 available for innovation projects

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and provide specialist mental health care to children/adolescents with intellectual disabilities.

  • Develop and manage a multidisciplinary team in the Sligo Leitrim region.

  • Collaborate with CAMHS, Adult MHID, Primary Care, Disability, and Educational services.

  • Provide community-based care including home, school, residential and outpatient services.

  • Contribute to service planning, performance evaluation, and inter-agency collaboration.

  • Ensure compliance with the Mental Health Act 2001 and other relevant policies.

Key Requirements

  • Registration: Specialist Registration with the Irish Medical Council in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry or Psychiatry of Learning Disability.

  • Experience: Documented training/experience in psychiatry of learning disability and/or child & adolescent psychiatry.

  • Transport: Must have access to suitable transport.

  • On-Call: Participate in CAMHS on-call rota.
