The Role

We are seeking a Consultant in Paediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) to join our dynamic cross-city PEM team. The successful candidate will provide high-quality emergency and urgent care across multiple CHI sites, supporting a consultant-led service 16 hours a day, 7 days a week. This role includes on-call duties, weekend and evening commitments, and involvement in our short stay observation unit, with an overarching goal of delivering safe, responsive care for children and young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver emergency and urgent paediatric care across designated CHI sites.
  • Participate in the on-call rota and major trauma team.
  • Lead and support multidisciplinary teams.
  • Engage in teaching, research, clinical audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development and integration of emergency care services in advance of the transition to the new hospital.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Applicants must:

  • Be registered in the Specialist Division of the Irish Medical Council in Emergency Medicine or Paediatrics.
  • Have at least 2 years’ postgraduate experience in related specialties, including 1 full year in Paediatric Emergency Medicine.
