Role: Consultant Psychiatrist Child and Adolescent Mental Health

Full time, Permanent

Role Overview

The Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist provides specialist psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for children and adolescents with a range of mental health conditions.

The role involves clinical leadership, multidisciplinary collaboration, and contribution to service development to ensure high-quality, evidence based care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments and ongoing management of children and adolescents.

• Develop and oversee individualized care and treatment plans.

• Lead and contribute to multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings.

• Offer clinical supervision and guidance to junior medical staff and allied health professionals.

• Liaise with families, schools, social services, and other relevant agencies.

• Ensure clinical practice complies with professional, ethical, and legal standards.

• Participate in service development, quality improvement, and audit activities.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

• Medical degree with specialist training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

• Specialist registration (or eligibility for registration) with the relevant medical regulatory authority.

• Demonstrated experience working within child and adolescent mental health services.

• Strong clinical leadership and decision making skills.
