Role Overview

We are looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist to provide inpatient and community-based care for General Adult Psychiatry in Roscommon.

The role involves working closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality mental health services.

Responsibilities include clinical leadership, patient assessment and treatment, collaboration with other healthcare professionals, and participation in education and research activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive mental health services in inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Provide clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary team.
• Supervise and train non-consultant hospital doctors (NCHDs).
• Participate in service development, audits, and performance improvement initiatives.
• Engage in research and teaching activities with the University of Galway.

Requirements

• Registration/eligible to register with the Irish Medical Council (IMC) as a Specialist in Psychiatry
• Relevant experience in General Adult Psychiatry
• Strong leadership, teamwork, and communication skills
• Willingness to contribute to teaching, research, and service development
• Ability to work effectively within a structured clinical governance framework
