We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Nursing to lead a specialised mental health service in Co. Meath.
This is an exciting opportunity for a senior nursing professional to lead a multidisciplinary team, drive clinical excellence, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care within a safe and therapeutic environment.
The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in overseeing clinical operations, supporting service development, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting positive outcomes for individuals with complex mental health needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership to the nursing team and wider service.
- Ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality care in line with regulatory standards and best practice.
- Lead workforce planning, staff development, retention, and performance management initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with the Clinical Director and multidisciplinary teams to support positive clinical outcomes.
- Develop and manage staffing rosters based on assessed needs and risk management considerations.
- Promote a culture of person-centred care, continuous improvement, and professional development.
- Maintain high standards of infection prevention and control.
- Ensure effective communication, governance, and risk management throughout the service.
- Participate in an on-call rota as required.
- Support research and innovation relevant to mental health nursing practice.
About You
You will be an accomplished nursing leader with strong clinical, operational, and people management experience. You will have a passion for delivering high-quality mental health services and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Essential Requirements
- Registered with, or eligible for registration on, the Psychiatric Division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Post-registration qualification in Healthcare Management (QQI Level 8 or higher) or equivalent, or willingness to obtain within an agreed timeframe.
- Minimum of 8 years’ post-registration nursing experience.
- Minimum of 5 years’ management experience within psychiatric nursing services.
- Strong leadership, communication, and relationship management skills.
- Excellent problem solving and decision making abilities.
- Full clean driving licence.
