Job description

We are looking for a Consultant Histopathologist with special interest in Perinatal Pathology to work in a great hospital in Dublin.

Contract Type: Permanent, Public Only Contract 2023
Hours: 37 hours per week

Role Overview:

The Consultant Histopathologist (SI Perinatal Pathology) will provide perinatal pathology services, including perinatal autopsies. The role involves clinical leadership, multidisciplinary team participation, and medical education.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide perinatal pathology and autopsy services.
• Participate in clinical audits, ethics committees, and quality initiatives.
• Lead in multidisciplinary team meetings, including perinatal mortality reviews.
• Support education and training of Non-Consultant Hospital Doctors (NCHDs).
• Contribute to hospital-wide risk management and continuous professional development.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

• Registered as a Specialist in Histopathology with the Medical Council of Ireland.
• Minimum one year of postgraduate training/experience in perinatal pathology.
• FRCPath or American Board certification in Anatomic Pathology.
• Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Higher degree (MD, PhD, D.Phil, or DSc).
• Experience in audit, accreditation, and MDT service provision.
