Consultant Paediatric Neurologist

Limerick

We are seeking applications for a Consultant Paediatric Neurologist to join the paediatric neurology service in Limerick.

About the Role:
This position involves managing patients with acute and chronic neurological conditions, improving clinic waiting times, and participating in inpatient neurology care and on-call duties. The role also provides support to paediatric colleagues in Limerick and across the region seeking expert advice on neurological disorders. There is scope to develop a special clinical interest within this role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality clinical care for paediatric patients with acute and chronic neurological conditions.

• Participate in inpatient management and the neurology on-call rota.

• Advise and support paediatric colleagues on complex neurological cases.

• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders to enhance patient care.

• Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives.

Essential Criteria:

• Eligable for registration as a specialist in Paediatrics on the Specialist Division under the Irish Medical Council

• Minimum of two years’ postgraduate training and experience in paediatric neurology.

Desirable Criteria:

• Clinical fellowship in Paediatric Neurology, nationally or internationally.

Skills, Competencies & Knowledge:

• Extensive clinical experience in acute and chronic paediatric neurology care.

• Credible clinician with leadership and team management skills.

• Strong evidence-based decision-making abilities.

• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

• Experience in service development, reconfiguring acute services, and working in complex environments.

• Knowledge of the Irish health sector, national health programmes, and health reform agendas.

• Proficiency in hospital data and information systems.

• Effective change management, negotiation, and organisational skills.
